Ikaroa encompasses the many iwi from around the motu residing within the mana whenua boundaries of respective iwi throughout the rohe.
The Ikaroa rohe consist of five purapura (clusters of Kōhanga Reo), Tangi Te Keo (Wellington-Tawa), Harataunga (Lower-Upper Hutt), Te Rāhuitanga me Te Awatea Hōu (Porirua), Raukawa (Kapiti-Horowhenua) and Rangitāne (Feilding-Palmerston North).
The 41 Kōhanga Reo and whānau cater to over 1,000 mokopuna in Ikaroa.

The Ikaroa Tari ā-Rohe | District Office provides support to whānau to maintain the Kaupapa of Te Kōhanga Reo in their respective whare, Kōhanga Reo within the principles of Te Korowai a Te Kōhanga Reo and Te Whāriki a Te Kōhanga Reo.
