Overview
Te Takai Tukutuku a Te Kōhanga Reo aims to prepare ākonga for roles as Kaiwhakarite a-Kōhanga Reo, and leads to the award of the New Zealand Diploma in Business, Level 5.
This programme empowers ākonga with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance Kōhanga Reo operations. It prepares ākonga for changes resulting from government policy shifts, including the introduction of pay parity. It covers financial management, marketing, and promotions, fostering innovation, growth, and sustainability. Ākonga will understand the importance of ethical practices in building relationships with whānau and other key stakeholders.

During this programme, you will:
Analyse the impacts of internal and external environments on Kōhanga Reo to inform decision making
Evaluate technologies to improve processes and to support the strategic goals of Kōhanga Reo
Align the core principles of business and administration, aligning with the operation and strategic goals within Kōhanga Reo settings
Apply the principles of practices of operations, accounting , marketing/ sales, human resources, risk management to support the performance of your Kōhanga Reo
Manage and evaluate administrative systems and processes to recommend improvements

Entry criteria
Must be over 17 years old
Te Takaimatua a Te Kohanga Reo, (Level 4); or National Certificate in Māori Business & Management (Level 4); or Te Taumata o te Arahiko (Level 4); or equivalent qualification
Complete the Whakauru Ākonga process with, and/or have the support of their Kōhanga Reo whānau
Complete a risk assessment and safety check in conjunction with the Children’s Act 2014, including police vetting
Access to an internet-connected device to access, engage and participate with programme requirements on our online learning environment Te Papa Ako
