Funding Support for Kōhanga Reo during Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi’s Tangihanga and Waitangi Day

Kia ora e te whānau,
He aroha e uiui noa ana, e rapu kau ana,
Ka ngaro rā aku manu korokī, aku hou kōtuku e.
Kua neke atu i te kotahi wiki i tō ngarohana, e Kui Iritana, ka mutu kei konei tonu tō iwi Māori me tō iti o Te Kōhanga Reo e tangi mōteatea nei.
“Stay strong, be true to one another and look after one another".
In recognition of Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi’s passing, Te Kōhanga Reo National Trust approved funding support for Kōhanga Reo during the time of her tangihanga. This support was provided under Hui ā-Māori funding from Monday 3rd February to Friday 7th February 2025.
Additionally, Kōhanga Reo that were open and operating prior to Waitangi Day may also apply for funding adjustments related to Waitangi Day public holiday support. If your Kōhanga Reo remained open, please follow the Waitangi Day Amendment process:
Steps to apply for Waitangi Day Funding Adjustment:
There is a Waitangi Day Amendment template in Edge should you need to use it.
Ensure your Funded Hours are correctly dated – most should reflect Matariki in July 2024, unless you also had an Anniversary Weekend in October or November 2024.
Follow the provided sequence to Add Valid to Date, Add New Funded Hours, and have a parent/caregiver sign and date the form.
If you have any pātai regarding this funding, please contact: [email protected]
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we ensure continued support for our Kōhanga Reo whānau.
Anei te ōhākī o Kahurangi Iritana Tawhiwhirangi hei whakamānawa i ā tātou;
"Kia mau te ruruku i a koutou, kia mau te ruruku i a tātou, kia kaha tā tātou tiaki i a tātou, kia pūmau tātou ki a tātou", nā Te Hapuku Niha Tawhiwhirangi.
Kahurangi Iritana Tawhiwhirangi leaves us these words of encouragement from her father-in-law Te Hapuku Niha Tawhiwhirangi to guide us in these challenging times.
“Stay strong and be true to one another and look after one another"
Ngā mihi,
