Welcome back everyone.
No doubt you have hit the ground running, busy with inductions and sending our mokopuna on to their next journey to Kura. 2024 is promising to be another big year for Kōhanga Reo, so hopefully you've had a great holiday and are easing yourself back into the flow of mahi and tiaki mokopuna. Please remember we are here to support you.
Nō reira mai i ā mātou o Te Tari Matua o Te Kōhanga Reo me Te Poari, tēnā koutou katoa.

What's happening with technology in 2024?
2024 is a big year for improving the tools and systems you use every day! There is a bit going on, so here’s a taster of what’s to come and what it means for you. If you’d like to know more, check out the Technology Implementation web page.
New devices, 2 degrees plans, and Brother printer offers for Kōhanga Reo
We’re rolling out new devices to Kōhanga Reo across the motu this year using the specific funding we have for this. After delays due to Covid, supply chain issues and natural disasters, it’s all finally happening. The Te Ara Hiko and Procurement teams will work with whānau at each Kōhanga Reo to find out what type of computers and devices will suit your needs, and then will place the orders and support delivery and set up when they arrive.

New Kōhanga Reo branding / visual identity
We are on an exciting journey to create refreshed Kōhanga Reo branding (or as we call it, our ‘visual identity’) that is welcoming and engaging for our whānau, mokopuna, ākonga and kaimahi, and for everyone who wants to connect with us.
Watch the video to check out the new designs.
New website and Te Kōhanga Reo intranet
Our new easy-to-use website is planned for launch at the end of April. The new website layout and look and feel will make it easier for you to find the information you need. There will be new rohe web pages for sharing of local news, events, and pānui, as well as links to the refreshed Te Kōhanga Reo intranet.
KoAu - single sign-on and updated software
Once we have the new website in place, we’ll shift to single sign-on, which means that each kaimahi will have their own individual password to access Trust systems. As part of this mahi, we’ll move to Office365 and email inboxes will be migrated to the cloud. We will be in touch about your exact migration date and will step you through the migration process.
Edge integration with ELI
We’re integrating Edge with the Ministry of Education’s Early Learning Information (ELI) system. This change will provide us with a more secure reporting method and means that mokopuna educational journeys within Te Kōhanga Reo and the progression and achievements of mokopuna are included in the nationwide reporting. This is important because we know multi-lingual people get the best tertiary education outcomes, but we cannot demonstrate which of those Manu Pīrere began in Kōhanga Reo.
