Ikaroa Tech Hubs – Supporting Kōhanga Reo whānau in Lower Hutt and Foxton
Kia ora e te whānau,
We’re excited to announce that Te Ara Hiko will be hosting tech hubs in Lower Hutt and Foxton this month to provide Kōhanga Reo whānau with the latest digital resources. These hubs are part of our commitment to enhancing digital access and ensuring our kōhanga whānau are well equipped to support tamariki learning.
Tech Hub Details
18th to 19th November in Lower Hutt, 9am – 4pm
22nd November in Foxton, 9:30am – 4pm
Lower Hutt location: D09 Tari, 26 Grenville Street, Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt
Foxton location: Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom, 92 Main Street, Foxton
What to expect
Whānau will have the opportunity to:
Collect allocated tablets
Set up devices with support from the Te Ara Hiko team
Receive guidance on Microsoft tools and other learning platforms
For ease of access, desktops and laptops will be shipped directly to each kōhanga due to their size. Our team will be on hand at each hub to help with setup, logins, and answer any pātai you may have.
Getting ready for your new Devices
While you’re waiting for your new devices to arrive, here are a few important steps to help make the setup quicker and easier:
Step 1: Log in with your new KoAu username and password
We’ve moved to a new identity access management system called KoAu, which allows single sign-on access to multiple Trust systems, including the latest Office 365 apps and tools. To get started, check your ‘Welcome to Okta’ email from Te Ara Hiko for your KoAu login details and follow the setup instructions. If you haven’t received this email, you can request access by filling out the KoAu account request form. For further help, refer to the Introduction to Okta video.
Step 2: Delete old files saved on your computer
Get ready for your new device by clearing out old files on your current device. Removing outdated documents will make the setup of your new device faster and more efficient.
Important Tip! Do not install OneDrive on your current device, as this can lead to email loss. The older Office products on current Kōhanga Reo devices are not compatible with OneDrive. Please wait until your new device arrives to begin using OneDrive.
Step 3: Clear out old Emails
Tidying up your email inbox by deleting unnecessary emails will make the migration to your new device and email transition to the Cloud much faster.
We look forward to connecting with you at the tech hubs and helping you access the latest tools to support digital learning for our tamariki.
