Important changes to Kōhanga Reo insurance claims processes
Kia ora whānau,
We’ve got some important updates regarding insurance that we’d like to share with you, to help make the process easier and ensure everything goes smoothly when it comes to claims.
New standard for excess payments
From now on, we’ve made it simpler by setting a standard excess amount of $500 across all policy types. This means that for any claim, you’ll pay the $500 directly to the insurer.
No excess for windscreen repairs! If your waka’s windscreen needs repair, head to an approved repairer, and simply provide our insurance details – Monument, Customer No. C11369, Branch Code O – along with your Kōhanga Reo ID and waka information.
No more Claim Notification Form
To streamline the process, we’ve removed the Claim Notification Form, which used to give us a heads-up about potential claims.
This form is no longer needed, and we’ve removed it from our website. If you’ve downloaded a copy, please delete it.
Letting the Police know about any theft or damage
If your claim involves theft, burglary, or damage to property or your waka, it’s really important to let the Police know immediately.
Depending on the situation, you may have the Police attend, visit a station, or submit a report online.
Keep a copy of the Police report, as it’ll be needed for your claim. Photos and witness details are also useful.
For a stolen or damaged waka, please fill out the Waka Incident Report. If you’ve lost something and intend to make an insurance claim, use the Police Lost Property Report.
Important: Failing to notify the Police could result in your claim being declined.
Submitting claims on time
To avoid delays, please make sure your claim is submitted within 30 days of the incident.
Use the relevant forms for your claim:
Once you’ve completed the relevant form and gathered all necessary documentation, send it to [email protected]
Avoiding delays in processing
Delays can happen when claim information is provided late, leading to slower payments and more stress while waiting for funds for repairs or replacements.
It’s important to submit details promptly, as kaimahi or whānau who handled the incident may move on, and details could be lost.
Why timely notification matters
Late claims or failure to meet policy requirements could mean additional costs for the insurer and make it harder for them to recover costs from third parties. In some cases, this could lead to part or all of your claim being declined.
We encourage everyone to familiarise themselves with these updates, so we can ensure that our insurance processes run smoothly and whānau are well supported in any claims process.
